About us
Canadian Dachshund Rescue (CDR) was founded in 2001 by the Canadian
members of US Dachshund rescues. The exchange rate at that time put the US
adoption fees out of reach of many potential adopters and transportation was always
a hassle. The group started with 3 members working at least 30 hours every week
on top of full-time jobs, funding the rescue out of their own pockets. CDR has grown
and matured, and has helped over 500 dachshunds and dachshund mixes find
forever homes.

Our mission is to educate people about puppy mills and to encourage responsible
pet ownership. We'd like to put ourselves out of business.
