... or four.

A house becomes a home with one dog. With four dogs, the house becomes a nest of dog beds and blankets. Yes, there are 5 blankets (and Dumb and Dumber) on the couch. What of it? Just as food wins over humiliation, comfort always beats style.

Why are all the humans wearing and drinking green?  Being that we are so adorable we seem to get costumed for all kinds of occasions; Halloween, Christmas, Easter, Quanza but this is taking things a bit far:

What?

Well if you can’t beat humans we might as well join them!  Coming soon our own online costume contest.

Why are you stealing all the Easter eggs?

I'm not in this picture but I know these guys all left eggs in the garden

I’m really happy that all the snow is melting because it’s uncovering all sorts of good snacks in the yard! I’ve been sampling all the lawn treats but I think mom likes them too and yesterday she went out with a big bag and took ALL of them and didn’t share any. She even got mad when I was helping her find them and I only had a little taste here and there.

Everyone here likes the yard snacks and even when the people change our food or give us special pills or powders on our food we’re not going to stop eating them. There are different flavours from bunnies and moles and skunks and birds and all sorts of friends.

Sometimes when we come in from outside and it’s wet out I go and give the people big wags and hellos and kisses and they say I’m smelly and tell me to get off the couch and they go wash themselves and sometimes they wash me, too. I’m learning stuff living here and one of the things I learned is not to snack outside and then give kisses because I get the opposite reaction to what I expect.

I love spring and I can’t wait until I can go for my daily walks! I think it might even be this week!!!

A snout out to our lost brothers and sisters

Maggie would not approve of Robin, either

It’s been a tough week in the rescue, and it’s also the anniversary of the death of the matriarch of this family.  Maggie was the only dog who could keep my attitude in check.

Two of my brothers in rescue are no longer with us and all of the members of CDR are very sad about it. I am very thankful that they left the world with loving owners and full stomachs. I know I might complain about this or that every once in a while, but today I’m going to try to remember that I have it pretty good.

So dogs, give your humans some extra attention today. Let them know that you don’t want them to be sad when it’s your time to go and that they should always think of you and smile. I know for a fact that none of us will ever be forgotten.

This post is for you, Jag and Buddy. Rest in peace.

Mommy Birthed a Human!

March 11, 2010 at 7:42 am • Posted in April5 Comments

Mommy and her big bump went to the people doctor yesterday and today Daddy told me that she emptied her belly into a baby girl named Sydney.  I can’t wait to see her but she better not be cuter than me!

Hi I'm April and those are MY toys

I know that most of us don’t like babies so here is my Baby Relations Pledge:

-I promise not to bark at you (much)

-I promise not to shred your toys (almost)

-I promise not to pee on you

-I promise to share my blankets

-I promise to clean up all the food you drop

-I promise not to pull your hair, if you don’t pull mine

-I promise to protect you from other dogs, Bentley the cat and other little humans

-I promise to love you as much as Mommy and Daddy do.

Whew! I’m glad that’s over!

I thought I was going to piddle right on the table!

Going on the TV wasn’t as exciting as it was scary.  That is a strange place with weird smells, people and kittens, I was very, very nervous but I did my best to be a good boy.  I liked the nice lady who was holding me but I wondered if this big studio was my new home?  I love my foster Mommy and I know someday I will be in a forever home but there weren’t any toys there, or blankets.  I really wanted to wag my tail to all my friends watching (especially Jovi) but I couldn’t quite get it out from between my legs.

Please, please let my forever home have toys, blankets and sunshine!?

Animal House Calls is now on later in the evening

I can’t figure out from the CP24 site whether the show is on at 7 or 7:30. The schedule says 7:30, and the show’s blurb says 7. Humans – mostly a useless bunch.

I told Doogle about the change after the producer let me know, and he says he’ll still be able to be there.

If you miss it, they record it and put it on their site.

And don’t think I missed that crack about a picture of me in the tub. Unlike some attention grabbers, I have some self respect. Show me the kibble and we’ll talk. Nothing is for free in this world.

Imma be on TV!

Oh boy, I’m gonna be on the TV!  I don’t know what that means exactly but I get to go to a place with lots of people and meet a nice lady and tell people my story.  I’m on something called Animal House Calls on CP24, Tuesday March 9th @ 5:15pm in Toronto.

I want to send a signal out to all my friends who helped me get better and cared for me and Deke so when I wag my tail I’m saying hi and thanks to all my CDR friends.  Please watch me!

I knew it!

Pretty even when wet

I didn’t really like that but I know when I’m finally dry I’ll get lots of rubs because I’ll smell good and I’ll be all fluffy.  I’ve heard the people speak of ‘dry cleaning’. Do you think we could have that done instead? It sure beats being wet cleaned.
